The Alamo Square is one of San Francisco’s most recognizable locations. It has been included in films and sitcoms like Bicentennial Man and Full House. Built on a hill top, it offers unparalleled views of the city. On clear days, one can even see the Transamerica Pyramid Building and the tops of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges from the park center.

The Painted Ladies
No part of Alamo Square has been more photographed than perhaps the “postcard row” or the “Painted Ladies”; the neat line of picturesque Victorian Houses that line Hayes and Steiner streets. In the background, you’ll see the downtown San Francisco’s skyscrapers, creating a nice contrast.
Cole Valley
Cole Valley on the other hand, is an artists’ paradise. This small community is home to families and young professionals and has mom & pop stores instead of chains and franchises. Cole Valley’s is also littered with restaurants and coffee shops and also offers fantastic views of the city – the best spot is on top of Tank Hill.
The Haight
Hippies and lovers of the 60s will love The Haight. It is home to many hippie-themed outlets with names like Dreams of Kathmandu and Pipe Dreams. But apart from the flower-power, tie-dye wearing stores, the Haight is also home to exclusive boutiques, high-end vintage-clothing shops, second-hand stores, and trendy restaurants. Upper Haight is where the exclusive shopping districts are located; while Lower Haight is the nightlife district with popular clubs and bars like Noc Noc and Mad Dog and Top and Nickies.
